‘He’s Super Talented’: Tom Holland Reveals Who Should Be the Next Spider-Man

Tom Holland knows who the next Spider-Man should be. Holland is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Marvel Studios and Sony PicturesSpider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives in United States theaters in July. What comes next for the MCU hero after that remains to be seen.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Wonder Man and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton. In addition to Holland, the movie stars Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

Who does Tom Holland think the next Spider-Man should be?

Speaking with Esquire Magazine, Holland revealed he believes Owen Cooper, best known for starring in the Adolescence Netflix show, should be the next Spider-Man.

“Owen Cooper would be awesome,” he said. “Obviously, he’s super-talented and he’s the talk of the town right now.”

There are no plans for Cooper to take over the mantle of Spider-Man in the MCU, nor has he been cast in any other upcoming projects related to Spider-Man; rather, this is simply Holland picking who he thinks would be a good fit. Having said that, there has been much talk and speculation regarding how much longer Holland will play the Peter Parker role in the MCU. At this time, his casting in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars has not been officially confirmed by Marvel.

In addition to Adolescence, Cooper played Young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, which was released earlier this year. He also stars as a character named Callum in a British comedy TV show called Film Club, which was created by Aimee Lou Wood and Ralph Davis.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives on July 31, 2026. Adolescence, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on Netflix.
