Disney’s live-action Moana has unveiled a new song by Lin-Manuel Miranda, performed by members of the cast. The film includes Dwayne Johnson and Catherine Laga‘aia in lead roles, among others.
What is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new Moana song called?
Moana movie’s newly released song is titled Along The Way, and is written by award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton). The music video for the song, performed by Auliʻi Cravalho, Catherine Laga’aia, and Dwayne Johnson, is now out. Laga‘aia also portrays Moana in the upcoming remake.
Moana’s full soundtrack will release on June 26, 2026, while the Deluxe version will be out on July 8, 2026. As for the Original Score, it will be released on July 10, 2026.
To celebrate Along The Way’s release, a special featurette for the song has also been revealed. It includes interviews featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda and filmmakers, alongside Lagaʻaia, Cravalho, and Johnson.
Sharing his experience of working on Along The Way, the composer said, “It was such a joy to drop back into the world of ‘Moana’ again and write ‘Along The Way.’ Auliʻi and Catherine’s voices blend so beautifully, and writing for Dwayne as Maui is just pure fun. I’m grateful that we were able to create something special for this brand-new version of our wayfinder’s story.”
Following the theatrical debut of Moana, a special album inspired by the movie and the Pacific, titled Moana: Voices Across The Ocean, will be available digitally on July 31, 2026.
This album will comprise 15 tracks (14 original songs plus one cover song) from Pacific artists representing seven islands and cultures, including Stan Walker, Iam Tongi, Dinah Jane, Paula Fuga, Maoli, and Common Kings. The album has Dwayne Johnson, Lauren Hashian, Tiana Nonosina Liufau, and Kayla Fa‘amaligi as the executive producers.
As for Along The Way, the song is now available to stream on popular services such as Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube.
The live-action Moana movie will release in theaters on July 10, 2026.
