Milly Alcock’s Kara Has the Most Supergirl Reaction to Batman

Milly Alcock revealed Supergirl‘s opinion of Batman in the DCU, going into character while sharing it. Notably, the Dark Knight has yet to make his proper debut in James Gunn’s superhero franchise. However, he made a fleeting cameo in the animated series, Creature Commandos.

Milly Alcock’s Supergirl does not care about Batman, director says

Alcock and Supergirl director Craig Gillespie recently sat down for an interview with Jake’s Takes‘ Jake Hamilton. During the discussion, the host pointed out how Supergirl existed in the same universe as fan-favorites like Batman, the Flash, and the Joker. Noting how Kara may like or dislike some of them, he asked the pair which DC character, which she may not necessarily want to share a scene with, that they wanted to know if she had an opinion on.

“I think it would be interesting if her and Lex [Luthor] were locked in a room,” the House of the Dragon actress replied. “I think that would just be like an interesting conversation to have with the two of them.”

Hamilton asked Alcock whether Supergirl knew of Batman’s existence. To this, Gillespie responded that Kara was “in her own space” and running away from “everything.” He added that while she may have heard of Gotham City’s brooding vigilante, she was indifferent to him. “In my version of it, you may have heard about Batman. She just doesn’t care,” Gillespie stated.

The actress concurred, saying, “I don’t think she cares.” Hamilton noted that this indifference was “actually better” for the character, while Gillespie stressed, “It’s like it’s not her problem. It’s not her world. She didn’t ask for it.” The Dumb Money filmmaker further stated that fans meet her with this mindset. He elaborated, “And that’s kind of what you love about her. That she’s so independent and unapologetically herself.”

Part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, Supergirl premieres in theaters on June 26. Gillespie directed from Ana Nogueira’s screenplay. Meanwhile, DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran co-produced it.

Meanwhile, the DCU Batman’s film, The Brave and the Bold, which will also introduce his son, Damian Wayne a.k.a Robin, is currently in development. Andy Muschietti will reportedly direct from Christina Hodson’s script.
