Networks and streaming platforms continued to cancel and end multiple series throughout June 2026. Sci-fi specials, animated sitcoms, and crime dramas all faced cancellations or final-season announcements.
These decisions arrived as networks settled into their 2026-2027 schedules. The affected shows came from BBC, Netflix, and NBC across both broadcast and streaming platforms.
All TV shows and series specials canceled in June 2026
Doctor Who Christmas Special 2026
The BBC canceled the previously announced Doctor Who Christmas special episode. The network, Russell T Davies, and Bad Wolf collectively made the decision. The BBC stated it would instead invest in the “long-term future of the show.” The corporation also announced plans to put Doctor Who out to competitive tender this year.
Davies addressed fans on Instagram, confirming his departure from the series. He wrote, “You’ll have to wait a bit longer for new Doctor Who… but you’ll be waiting for MORE Doctor Who than a one-off. So it’s worth it!”
The Hunting Party
NBC canceled the Melissa Roxburgh-led crime drama The Hunting Party after two seasons. The network locked its 2026-27 schedule without a spot for the procedural.
Jeff Bader, NBCUniversal’s President of Program Planning Strategy, explained, “Nothing negative about Hunting Party, but for our linear schedule, we absolutely need to try and do a little bit better there.” Universal Television reportedly plans to shop the series to other outlets, with Netflix as a likely destination.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
