Fans of The Young and the Restless voiced their reactions to the strange new Matt Clark twist, calling it “disgusting.” The latest storyline shift lit up social media as longtime viewers slammed the recent plot twists.

Young and Restless fans are not happy with the latest Matt twist
The Young and the Restless fans are voicing strong disappointment, taking to social media to criticize The Young and the Restless’ latest Matt Clark twist.
Victor’s decision to forgive the family’s top enemy based only on his apology sets the stage for redeeming the man who raped Sharon and tried to kill his own relatives. Ever since, Y&R viewers have unleashed a wave of outrage on social media.
Many say that their frustration is justified over the story contortions being used to redeem Matt Clark. Viewers argue it clashes with everything they know about the show’s history, the Newmans, Victor, and Nick. For Victor to accept someone who framed his son for murder, and for Nick to go along with it despite Matt assaulting Sharon, feels completely illogical to viewers.
Viewers also pulled apart other plot developments that seem inconsistent. They questioned why Victor would forgive Matt while still refusing to reconcile with Jack. Victor’s plan to use Matt against Cane also raises questions, since Arabesque was already dismantled. Critics argue it’s unclear what further damage Victor believes he could inflict. Additionally, they find it implausible that Ashby would be unaware of Matt Clark, given his well-known history in Genoa City.
“This matt stuff is disgusting especially to Sharon and turning himself into a pretzel to justify it,” wrote one fan. “Matt is no longer an enemy to Victor’s family… easy for Victor to say, he wasn’t raped by Matt Clark. Shame on Nick,” echoed another.
“Victor is willing to give serial rapist Matt Clark a second chance but not Jack for saving Nikki’s life,” highlighted a viewer. “Why would Cane be friends with Matt Clark? Is Matt going to have a fake name? Cane isn’t the brightest Bulb but I assume he can google Matt Clark,” a fan of the show reasoned.
