Beloved Game of Thrones Prequel & More HBO Max Releases This Week

New HBO Max movie and TV releases from June 15 to June 21, 2026, include Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon’s third season.

Season 3 focuses on the events of the book Fire & Blood. In an interview, Gayle Rankin talked about the new season exploring the world of Westeros and how it relates to the modern world of the audience. “It’s so funny. I thought you were talking about our present world, and I was like, ‘Oh God, don’t be in war,’ the Alys Rivers actress said (via CBR).

Rankin continued, “But I guess the question that’s posed, and it’s yet to be seen whether it’s answered: how to be in war. How do you survive? How can you be okay? Can you help other people? Can you change things?”

The 36-year-old added, “Those feel like the questions that are being posed. I feel like those are really difficult questions to answer because they’re complicated.” She further explained, “But I think that’s what Season 3 is exploring, certainly, and what [every character is] exploring is their relationship to that.”

Besides, Rankin, Season 3 features a star cast of Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, and many others in key roles.
