The Pitt Star Hints Javadi Won’t Stay the Same in Season 3: ‘Done My ER Rotations’

The Pitt just lost another doctor from its ER, and this time it’s one fans didn’t see coming. Shabana Azeez reveals where Javadi is headed next in Season 3 and what the change means for her character’s future.

Actress Shabana Azeez confirmed that her character, Victoria Javadi, will leave the ER in The Pitt Season 3. Speaking to Bustle at the Newport Beach TV Fest on June 6, Azeez revealed her character’s next move. “I can say that I’m not in the ER this season. I’ve done my ER rotation, so I’m doing my psychiatry rotation,” she said.

The show’s creators confirmed Season 3 will take place in November. This rotation therefore falls within Javadi’s ongoing med school education at the teaching hospital. Writer Simran Baidwan also told ScreenRant that filming would begin sometime in June.

Javadi’s shift toward psychiatry did not come without buildup in Season 2. Her parents encouraged her to pursue surgery or dermatology instead. She even considered pivoting from medicine to law entirely due to the ER’s toll. “No offense, but look what this place does to you,” she told Whitaker during a pointed exchange. However, she later recognized mental health as her true calling. “The more time I spend here, the more I realize the importance of mental health,” she said.

That realization prompted Javadi to ask Dr. Robby about emergency psychiatry as a specialty. “I think that you could do anything that you put your mind to, Victoria,” he responded. Azeez expressed both excitement and vulnerability about tackling this new direction for her character. “It’s a very different vibe for me. And I’m scared and nervous. But it’s an honor to be able to show that part of medicine,” she said.

Meanwhile, star and executive producer Noah Wyle told Vanity Fair that Season 3 will center on mental health more broadly. “Season 3 is the doctor is the patient,” he said. He added that the season tracks a mental health journey “from total denial to acceptance of a problem to baby steps up and out of his proverbial pit.” Javadi’s psychiatry rotation aligns directly with this thematic focus as the show heads into production.
