Jessica Chastain shares an update on The Savant release date
Jessica Chastain confirms Apple TV will finally release her political thriller series The Savant, she told Variety exclusively at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in Santa Monica on Saturday. The series faced postponement following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Sources indicate Apple plans a July release for the show.
“Before it was like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to see it,’ but now I can say, ‘We’re going to see it,'” Chastain said. The Oscar winner stars as an investigator who goes undercover on the dark web. Her character works to find hate groups and prevent domestic terrorism.
Apple TV originally scheduled the series to premiere in September 2025. The streamer announced the postponement on Sept. 23, citing careful consideration in its decision. Apple said at the time it looked forward to releasing the series at a future date.
Chastain, who also serves as an executive producer, publicly disagreed with Apple’s postponement decision. She posted a statement on Instagram just one day after the announcement. “I’ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn’t so relevant, unfortunately it is,” she wrote. She added that The Savant honors the courage of heroes who work daily to stop violence. Chastain also expressed hope the show would reach audiences soon.
The series features an ensemble cast alongside Chastain. Nnamdi Asomugha, Pablo Schreiber, James Badge Dale and Cole Doman round out the lineup. Michael Mosley, Dagmara Domińcczyk, Jordana Spiro and Trinity Lee Shirley also star. Toussaint Francois Battiste, Hannah Gross and David Wilson Barnes complete the cast.
