Ahead of the One Piece Season 2 premiere on Netflix, one of the stars says the manga’s creator, Eiichiro Oda, has an ending planned for the show.
What do we know about the One Piece Netflix TV show’s ending?
While appearing on The Movie Podcast, Mackenyu, who plays Roronoa Zoro, revealed that Oda has plans for how to end the Netflix live-action series.
“He has a vision to where he wants to end,” Mackenyu said. “Not end, but where he wants us to take the live-action to. And we all know about it. We know where he wants to go up to. That hyped me up a lot. There’s a specific arc he wants us to go up to.”
Oda’s manga series, which has been running for nearly 30 years, has no ending in sight. Mackenyu’s comments suggest that the Netflix show will end with a specific storyline, not necessarily the manga’s ending.
After a nearly three-year hiatus, the One Piece live-action series returns to Netflix for its second season, which will involve the Grand Line.
“Netflix’s epic high-seas pirate adventure, One Piece, returns for Season 2—unleashing fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet,” the official synopsis reads. “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line—a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”
One Piece Season 2 stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp.
Joe Tracz and Matt Owens are the co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers on One Piece Season 2. Netflix has already renewed One Piece for Season 3.
One Piece Season 2 premieres on March 10.
