Matthew Lillard recently teased his role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and his impending conflict with Kingpin.
In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Lillard joins the cast as Mr. Charles, a mysterious power player in New York City who becomes an antagonist to Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), aka Kingpin, in the world of “politics and international diplomacy.”

While speaking with the LA Times, Lillard mentioned that he plays Dungeons & Dragons with showrunner Dario Scardapane, which helped lead to a role in the new season. Lillard then added the collision course his character is on with Kingpin.
“Dario brought me in to play Mr. Charles, who’s like a CIA spook,” Lillard explained. “He’s a guy that controls power from afar. He helps nations rise and fall, but he’s very clandestine. He is not impressed by the powers of D’Onofrio’s character [Kingpin] at all. He and I get into this really delicious struggle over power. It’s good. It’s fun.”
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will continue the battle between Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
“In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil,” the official logline reads. “But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. The ensemble also stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Tony Dalton, and Lili Taylor.
Krysten Ritter joins Season 2 as Jessica Jones, the character she originated in the Netflix Marvel series of the same name.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on March 24, 2026. A third season has already been confirmed.
