Even Stevens star Christy Carlson Romano tearfully revealed on her social media handle that her cancer screening test came out positive. She took the test because her family had a history of the disease. She even tearfully remembered James Van Der Beek, who passed away from cancer recently.
Christy Carlson Romano gives confirmation on positive cancer screening results
Christy Carlson Romano took to her Instagram on Wednesday, February 18, to reveal that she recently underwent a cancer screening along with her husband, Brendan Rooney. She revealed that while her husband’s test result came back completely negative, it was not the same for her. Both her parents also had cancer, with her father unable to beat it.
After revealing this news, Romano recalled meeting the late James Van Der Beek. “I live in Austin, and I was able to meet James Van Der Beek a bunch. His family’s amazing. He’s a pillar of our community in Texas,” she said of the Dawson’s Creek star. “They always were raising money for the most amazing charities, and he’s not with us anymore. Cancer is everywhere. Which is why I got this test.”
She further added that she was still in “disbelief” over her result and was trying “not think about it much.”
This comes shortly after the actress was shot in the face while shooting clay pigeons as part of Rooney’s birthday celebration.
Though she called it a “vulnerable” time, she tried to remain positive during the ordeal. “It’s time to have a strong sense of faith and know that it’s in God’s hands, most of it. I’m sure people think I’m overreacting, but I’m not, because cancer is pretty serious, and I have two little girls,” she said.
“When you’re somebody like me, you kinda have to take life a day at a time, really be grateful for all the amazing stuff around you. That’s why I always try to make jokes, and I try to be funny. Not just because I’m trying to be liked, or stay relevant. I don’t share that a lot. So when my book comes out, you’re gonna find out a lot of stuff about me that you didn’t know,” Romano added.
She wrote in the caption of the post that she will keep her fans informed about whatever development follows this.
