Sarah Michelle Gellar reveals 1 big marriage rule she and Freddie Prinze Jr. follow
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have had an enduring relationship since they tied the knot in 2002. In their two-decade-long marriage, Gellar and Prinze have maintained a simple principle that has kept things more interesting between them.
Speaking to E! News at the premiere of Netflix’s Star Search, in which she’s a judge, about what her influential marriage rule is that has kept things great between her and her husband, Gellar said, “Separate bathrooms. That’s what I always say.”
Interestingly, at the same event, Gellar’s fellow Star Search judge Chrissy Teigen also revealed that she follows a similar practice with her famous husband, John Legend. Teigen said anything to “keep the sexy and preserve the sexy.”
Before this, Gellar and Prinze had been candid about their marriage in numerous other interviews. In a previous interview with Variety, the pair iterated how marriage was always hard work.
“Marriage is hard, no matter what business you’re in. What works for us might not work for everyone else. We work at it,” Prinze said at the time, “I’m not perfect. She’s not perfect. We piss each other off, but we respect one another.”
Both Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. remain active in the industry. The pair appeared together in the remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025). Sarah Michelle Gellar is soon set to appear in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which is set to premiere on March 20, 2026.
