New Game of Thrones TV Show Premieres Tonight on HBO Max

It’s a big night for HBO with a new Game of Thrones spin-off show arriving tonight.

What Game of Thrones TV show premieres tonight?

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new series that acts as a prequel to Game of Thrones, premieres tonight on HBO and HBO Max. The series is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, and follows the tale of Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), a hedge knight, and Prince Aegon Targaryen, also known as “Egg,” played by Dexter Sol Ansell.

The first episode of the six-episode season premieres on January 18, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET. New episodes will then air weekly, leading up to the season finale of the series on February 22, 2026. A second season of the show has already been confirmed as well, although there is no information about that available as of yet.

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg,” reads the show’s official synopsis. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms comes from Ira Parker and George R.R. Martin, and stars Peter Claffey as Sir Duncan the Tall/Dunk, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maker Targaryen.
