Tell Me Lies Season 3 Hints at a ‘Toxic’ Future for Lucy & Stephen

Tell Me Lies has returned for Season 3, continuing to portray the intense relationship between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco. While the pair’s relationship was already proven to be pretty “toxic” in the past, the latest season has taken it a step further.

Do Lucy and Stephen get back together in Tell Me Lies Season 3?

Yes, Lucy and Stephen do get back together. However, their relationship grows progressively “toxic,” as described by the lead actress.

In the first episode, titled “You F*cked It, Friend,” the show features a time jump to 2009, where Lucy and Stephen decide to give their relationship another try. This decision comes despite their long history of manipulation and betrayal.

In Episode 2, “We Can’t Help It If We Are a Problem,” Stephen gets into a heated argument with Lucy after she cheats on him by sleeping with Evan. After a lot of back and forth, the two decide to continue their relationship. However, he grows hostile towards her and uses her betrayal to humiliate her.

By episode 3, “Repent,” Lucy is trying to move on after Stephen’s cruel demeanor toward her. Her friend, Bree, encourages her to find someone else and introduces her to Alex. Lucy initially goes to Alex’s apartment, but they stop short of having sex. However, by the end of the episode, Lucy returns to Alex’s place and sleeps with him. Meanwhile, Stephen’s presence lingers in her consciousness. Now, it remains to be seen where their relationship is heading with future episodes.

During an interview with USA Today, Jackson White, who plays Stephen, said that “people are dealing with consequences,” and that “they’re having repercussions from the last few years.” He added, “It’s all coming to a head, and it’s going to be explosive.”

Meanwhile, Grace Van Patten, who plays Lucy, admitted the toxicity in this season is “beyond what I even thought toxic was. I couldn’t even imagine these things if I wanted to.” She added, “They’re on a different level in terms of how they treat each other and how they treat themselves. It’s what makes this show so scary, exciting, and entertaining.”

The first three episodes of Season 3 are now streaming on Hulu. The subsequent episodes will arrive weekly.
