Katelyn MacMullen on what’s ahead after revelation about Drew’s shooter on General Hospital
Katelyn MacMullen, who plays Willow on General Hospital, opened up about the shocking reveal that her character was the one who shot Drew Cain. Being the one who pulled the trigger brings its own layer of drama and intrigue. As a result, several actors were quietly open to the idea of their characters being revealed as the shooter.
“We were all sitting there going, ‘Who did it? Who do you think did it?’ I was open to it [being Willow]; I thought it would be really interesting if she was the one who did it. But I thought, ‘Whatever way the writers decide to go, no matter what, it’ll be really fun and exciting to see who it is’”, MacMullen recalled in an interview with Soap Opera Digest.
The General Hospital star revealed that she only learned Willow was the shooter about a week and a half before filming the trial scenes. “I kind of suspected, I mean, I always knew that it was a strong possibility, but I didn’t know for sure until a little birdie, [Executive Producer] Frank Valentini, whispered in my ear. He said, ‘You know you shot him, right?’ I was like, ‘No!’”, the actress shared.
For MacMullen, the storyline has taken a dramatic turn following the reveal. While the mystery has been resolved, the fallout is just beginning. Questions remain about what Trina and Kai will do next. Since they were inside Drew’s house when the shooting happened, the outcome of Willow’s trial remains uncertain.
Reflecting on the arc, MacMullen said, “When Frank first told me that it was Willow, he said, ‘You’re going to have some really fun stuff to play with.’ And that has definitely been true.”
