The Lowdown Trailer: Ethan Hawke Stars in FX’s Noir TV Show

FX has unveiled the trailer for The Lowdown, an upcoming noir series led and executive-produced by Ethan Hawke. The series hails from the creator behind Reservation Dogs, Sterlin Harjo

The Lowdown is set to air its first two episodes on Tuesday, September 23, with new episodes airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. After each episode airs on FX, it will be streaming on Hulu the next day. The series will consist of eight episodes.

What happens in The Lowdown trailer?

The trailer for The Lowdown immediately introduces us to citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke), who recounts how the trouble really began. “He’ll write for any publications that’ll humor his conspiracies,” the narrator says. “He’s rough around the edges.” But his latest exposé throws him into something far more dangerous than he expected, putting both his and his family’s safety at risk.

You can watch the trailer down below (watch more trailers):

Apart from Hawke (known for Before Sunrise, The Black Phone, and more), The Lowdown also stars Tim Blake Nelson (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Incredible Hulk) as Dale Washberg, Jeanne Tripplehorn (Basic Instinct, Big Love) as Betty Jo, Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) as Donald Washberg, Keith David (The Thing, They Live) as Marty, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Francis (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, The Tomorrow War), and Kaniehtiio Horn (Seeds, Embrace of the Vampire) as Samantha.

Per the official synopsis, The Lowdown “follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist “Lee Raybon” (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble. When the publication of Lee’s latest exposé – a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family – is immediately followed by the suspicious suicide of “Dale Washberg” (Tim Blake Nelson), Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big.”

The Lowdown premieres on September 23.
