Vincent Stalba‘s recent comments about his character, Carter, on The Young and the Restless have fans wondering if he just hinted at Carter’s involvement in Damian’s murder. While no confirmation has been given, clues from Stalba’s interview, combined with what happened in the recent episodes, suggest Carter might be more dangerous than he first appeared.
What Vincent Stalba’s statement about Carter could mean on The Young and the Restless
When Stalba joined The Young and the Restless, he had no idea where Carter’s character was headed. Describing Carter as “calculated, cold, polished, professional, and very robotic,” Stalba leaned fully into these qualities to shape the character. That foundation alone sets Carter up as someone who could easily cross moral lines without flinching.
Carter was introduced as Cane’s quiet, capable assistant, but Stalba teases that there’s more to him. “It’s basically just being an assistant until there’s a much bigger plan that comes into focus,” he told Soap Opera Digest, and added, “I say very little, but I know everything…All I’ll say is I will do anything for my boss.” Those final words, “I will do anything for my boss,” might be the most telling. Could “anything” include murder?
After all, Damian’s murder came after a suspicious series of events. He was involved with Lily, Cane’s ex, and their relationship stirred some unresolved emotions. When Cane learned about it, he claimed to accept it, but his private meeting with Damian ended on a bloody note. Damian began to feel dizzy after drinking with Cane, and even though both men had the same drink, the suspicion lingered.
Soon after, a gloved figure attacked Damian with a knife. While Cane cradled Damian’s dying body, Phyllis arrived on the scene and gave Cane a chilling look, immediately suspecting him. Could Cane have orchestrated the attack and let someone else do the dirty work, and was that someone Carter? Given Carter’s loyalty and cold professionalism, as well as Stalba’s statement, many fans now believe Cane may have used him as a silent henchman.
