General Hospital has once again added some dynamism to the strained relationship between Gio and Dante. This comes shortly after they found out the truth about their relationship. In the June 27 episode of General Hospital, Dante tried to connect with Gio by inviting him to Philharmonic in the Park night with Rocco and Charlotte, but Dante’s biological son coldly rejected the invitation.
Star Giovanni Mazza recently opened up about this strained relationship.

After Dante’s recent offer was rejected, it seems that Gio and Dante are further apart than ever. Gio has resisted the urge to build family bonds with either of his biological parents. He has felt this way ever since learning about them in an explosive episode a few weeks ago.
But Giovanni Mazza, the actor behind the role, believes that “there is a certain feeling of love” between Gio and Dante. He spoke about this to Soap Opera Digest in a recent interview. He also opened up about his desire to explore this dynamic as an actor.
“As an actor, I’m really excited to explore sort of a dysfunctional father and son relationship. I think because I have such a healthy relationship with my father, it allows me to dig really deep into the unhealthy ones and all the dysfunction and the sort of intricacies of that relationship,” the actor said about this plotline.
“That really excites me and I’m really interested to see where things go with that. I think in every scene that we do, the relationship is building, but I think Gio feels like Dante took away his power [in the aftermath of Rocco’s hospitalization] and he’s sort of trying to get his power back,” he added.
He also elaborated on the power dynamic, saying, “So, it sort of creates this interesting power dynamic of who is going to be on top? Who is going to be the first one to break? But I think at the end of the day, there is a certain feeling of love underneath all of it… It just has a different way of expressing itself.”
So, it seems there is an interesting path ahead for Gio and Dante. The upcoming episodes of General Hospital will shed more light on this.
