Rachel Zegler Breaks Silence on Snow White Flopping, Won’t Be a Victim

2025’s Snow White live-action remake was considered a massive box office failure, and star Rachel Zegler recently opened up on it and moving forward from it.

What did Rachel Zegler say about Snow White flopping?

Speaking to i-D magazine in a recent interview, Zegler briefly touched on being largely blamed for the film’s failure at the box office, and the vitriol she received online as a result. Controversy sprang up when, following the release of the Snow White teaser trailer in August 2024, Zegler took to X to thank fans in a long thread that ended with her saying “and always remember, free palestine.”

The final post quickly began making the rounds, with reports at the time noting that those behind the scenes at Disney were “expressing shock” that Zegler would choose to make any political statement. Disney reportedly quickly reached out to her, and the film’s producer Marc Platt flew out to New York to speak with her directly, but Zegler refused to remove the post.

In the new interview, Zegler acknowledged that there are things “at stake” by being outspoken, but refuses to back down from what she believes in.

“There are obviously things that are at stake by being outspoken, but nothing is worth innocent lives,” said Zegler. “My heart doesn’t have a fence around it, and if that is considered my downfall? There are worse things.”

Zegler revealed that following the massive uproar over Snow White’s failure, she actually left her New York residence to go back home to New Jersey. After speaking with a psychiatrist, Zegler realized that the massive hate against her was not normal, and now refuses to be seen as a victim of it.

“My f—— psychiatrist has seen me through all of it,” Zegler said. “’What you’re going through isn’t normal,’ that sentence did such wonders for me in multiple situations in my life.

“I think a victim mindset is a choice, and I don’t choose it. I also don’t choose nastiness in the face of it. I don’t choose negativity in the face of it. I choose positivity and light and happiness. And I do believe at times, happiness is absolutely a choice, and every day I wake up and I think I’m very lucky to live the life I live.”
