After acquiring its North American distribution rights last year, Saban Films has finally shared the official Strange Harvest trailer for its newest horror thriller. This comes nearly a year after the movie had its world premiere at the 2024 Fantastic Fest. The movie is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 8, 2025.
“Detectives are thrust into a chilling hunt for ‘Mr. Shiny’—a sadistic serial killer from the past whose return marks the beginning of a new wave of grotesque, otherworldly crimes tied to a dark cosmic force,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Strange Harvest trailer?
The video features two detectives investigating an unusual case involving a gruesome serial killer named Mr. Shiny, who resurfaces after a decades-long break. The trailer also teases the film’s mockumentary format as the story mixes true crime and horror. Since making its debut, the movie has already garnered a Tomatometer rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 17 reviews.
Strange Harvest is written and directed by Stuart Ortiz (Grave Encounters). The R-rated film stars Peter Zizzo, Terri Apple, Andy Lauer, Matthew Peschio, Janna Cardia, Thomas Wolfe Jr, Tim Shelburne, Christina Helene Bra, and LA Williams. Producers are Ortiz, Bruce Guido, Alex Yesilcimen, and Michael Karlin. It currently holds a total runtime of 94 minutes.
