The Young and the Restless viewers recently learned that Aristotle Dumas was none other than Cane Ashby, Lily Winters‘ ex-husband. Since then, they have been wondering if Cane and Lily will get back together. Now, Lily’s actress, Christel Khalil, has revealed whether a reconciliation between the exes is in the cards. Actor Daniel Goddard previously portrayed Ashby between 2007 and 2019. Although Ashby was romantically involved with characters like Chloe Mitchell and Amber Moore, it was his union with Lily that invited considerable fan interest.
So is Cane Ashby, aka Aristotle Dumas, getting back with Lily Winters? Here’s what Christel Khalil said about the prospect.
Christel Khalil says Lily won’t get back with Cane in The Young and the Restless
Speaking to TVInsider, Christel Khalil made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect Lily to rekindle her relationship with Cane. Khalil reasoned that Lily was “disturbed” by Cane’s behavior and lies, as well as the latter’s working relationship with his father Colin, whom she called “a bad person.”
“So right now, it’s very much like, ‘I want nothing to do with you,” she added. “We’re never getting back together, especially after all of this. It’s never happening.”
However, Khalil urged fans to give Billy Flynn‘s take on Cane Ashby a chance and view the character from a new perspective. She also told fans to view Lily and Cane’s dynamic as “a new relationship” instead of “an old one coming back.”
Also in the interview, Khalil revealed she was surprised at Cane Ashby’s return to the soap opera. She noted that head writer Josh Griffith “kept it a secret for a very long time.” Khalil then expressed excitement for Ashby’s comeback, calling him “a great character.” She added that his absence in the series “was a shame.”
Khalil also revealed that she had not met Flynn before. However, she had heard “great things” about him from other cast members who worked with him.
The Young and the Restless airs daily on CBS. William J. and Lee Phillip Bell created the soap opera.
