Chris Martin, rumored to be Dakota Johnson‘s ex-boyfriend, was seen in New York City with his son, Moses Martin. For his casual stroll in NYC, Martin opted for business-casual attire, sporting a black T-shirt, a blazer, and aviator sunglasses (via E! Online).
Meanwhile, rumors of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin started surfacing on June 4, three days after the Coldplay frontman urged his fans to watch “Materialists” in theaters. A source told People that the breakup “feels final this time.”
Insiders close to the couple had previously claimed that Martin and Johnson had “taken breaks” in their seven-year-long relationship. But they were at a “great place” even in 2024. A source claimed last year, “Sure, they’ve had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now.” The insider added, “They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can.”
As for the reason for their “final” breakup, sources claim that the Madame Web star tried to work their relationship out several times. An insider told The Sun, “Dakota has been desperate for her and Chris to work out for years.” “Every time they broke up, she was devastated and in tears,” the insider stated.
The source further alleged, “They really tried to work through their issues, but the age gap was often a problem. She’d (also) expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life.”
While both Johnson and Martin love each other deeply, the source claimed, “things were just never lining up for them, and it was very up and down.”
Despite the rumored split, it seems like the singer and Johnson have an amicable connection. On June 1, Martin mentioned Johnson’s new work at his final show in Stanford, California. The Grammy winner had gushed, “Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other. Don’t forget to see Materialists!”
