Jeremy Renner has shared some new comments regarding a potential Hawkeye Season 2.
Renner has played Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the MCU since 2011’s Thor. In 2021, the character got his own Disney+ show created by Jonathan Igla that also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, and Florence Pugh.
What did Jeremy Renner say about Hawkeye Season 2?
Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Renner was asked if some rumors regarding where a potential Hawkeye Season 2 could go — a The Raid-like story featuring Clint’s brother — were true.
“Maybe some of that is true in there, I don’t know,” Renner said. “We got into it, a little bit, sort of story-wise and stuff…Everybody is interested in it. I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, of course, man, I wouldn’t say no to that.’ I think there are a lot of ideas — they’ve still got to figure a lot of things out.”
Recently, Renner made headlines when he revealed to High Performance that Marvel Studios only offered him half of the salary he made from Hawkeye Season 1 to return for Season 2.
He said at the time, “I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.’…I didn’t ask for any more money, mind you. Just pay me what I made made the first season. So it’s all disheartening that that didn’t happen, but that’s fine. I’m happy to let that go, because my body’s probably thanking me, time and time again, that I’m not doing it right now. But we’ll see.”
While the salary topic didn’t come up, Renner did tell Horowitz that he’s still “game to do” more Hawkeye, especially because it helps fund his RennerVation Foundation for foster care and at-risk youth.
Additionally, Renner dodged any kind of comment about whether or not he’ll be in Avengers: Doomsday. So far, his casting in the forthcoming Marvel movie has not been officially confirmed.
