Ed Sheeran does not mind “punching” Jimmy Fallon in a new hilarious Instagram video after giving him due warnings. In the prank video, the 34-year-old singer tells Fallon, “Don’t do it” multiple times.
However, Fallon pays no heed and wears a ginger-blonde wig that matches Sheeran’s hair. As the TV host turns back to the camera, he gets a playful jab from the “Thinking Out Loud” crooner.
Sheeran and Fallon had another surprise for New York subway travellers. The “Shape of You” singer and Fallon performed as undercover artists at the 47th–50th Streets–Rockefeller Center station on Wednesday, March 26 (via Parade).
Both Sheeran and Fallon were sporting matching black hoodies as their disguises. Sheeran first performed Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” cover. After the first song, the duo removed their caps as Fallon introduced Sheeran to the audience.
Subway passengers took to social media to share their surprising reaction to the performance. One user posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Not Ed Sheeran and Jimmy Fallon randomly performing “Pink Pony Club” while I’m waiting for the subway!” Another gushed, “I’m not even an Ed Sheeran fan, but this would go down in history as one of the best covers ever!”
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran gears up for his new single, “Azizam,” which will be released on April 4. Sheeran explained the meaning of his new song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The singer revealed the song’s title translates to “my dear” in Farsi.
The concept of the song was inspired by the song’s Persian producer, Illya Salmanzadeh. Sheeran explained, “We were creating a lot of music, and he suggested we create something within the Persian culture.” He also added that the song will also have a full version in Farsi.
After Azizam, Ed Sheeran will release his new album, Play. The award-winning singer also quipped about his grand plan of revealing a posthumous album after his demise. He gushed, “I’m kind of obsessed with [Quentin] Tarantino, and I heard he was doing 10 films, and he’s got his side projects… and so I want to do my 10 and do a side project here and there.” He shared the posthumous album will be titled Eject.
