WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre has shared his thoughts on his rumored match against Damian Priest at WrestleMania 41. Despite having one of the best years in WWE last year, McIntyre does not currently remain in the main event picture for this year’s Grandest Stage of Them All.
Last year, at WrestleMania 40, McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship, but Damian Priest immediately cashed in his Money in the Bank contract after CM Punk attacked McIntyre.
Following his title loss, McIntyre feuded with Punk in a heated rivalry that ended at WWE Bad Blood. Despite multiple setbacks, he delivered a standout year, leading many fans to expect him in a marquee WrestleMania 41 match.
At WWE Royal Rumble 2025, Damian Priest eliminated McIntyre, signaling a likely WrestleMania 41 showdown between the two. In recent weeks, McIntyre has relentlessly attacked Priest, making it clear that their match will likely become official soon.
Some fans remain skeptical, believing both superstars should have been in bigger matches at WrestleMania 41. Addressing fan concerns, McIntyre has expressed frustration with his plans but urged fans to allow the storyline with Priest to develop.
Drew McIntyre slams Damian Priest ahead of their rumored WWE WrestleMania 41 match
Speaking to The Daily Star, McIntyre addressed the possibility of facing Damian Priest at WrestleMania 41. While he acknowledged that plans could still change, he admitted feeling frustrated about not being booked in a title match and called out his rumored opponent, Damian Priest.
He stated:
“We’ve still got six weeks until Mania and anything can change in that time. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t p****d off at not being in one of the title matches after the 2024 I had, but it’s just because I’m so highly competitive and sometimes, you know, there’s only a few spots. I appreciated when the fans’ reaction was, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s Priest and Drew, there’s nothing there.’ I’m like, bloody hell, give us a chance to tell the story. The thing with Priest has been going on since last year’s WrestleMania, when he cashed in on me after I was assaulted by Punk.”
He continued:
“He doesn’t know how to succeed unless it is at my expense. Elimination Chamber—I Claymore Cena. Instead of going, ‘I’ll let Drew pin Cena first,’ he eliminates me. It’s the only way he knows how to succeed because he is a vulture. A parasite. A big emo vulture. Finally, he’s got my attention because they’ve got nothing else. I stomped him in his big stupid head last week, and if he wants to keep coming back for more—if it goes all the way to Mania—it’s a year-in-the-making story, and he deserves the biggest stage of all to get his stupid-looking arse kicked.” [H/T: WrestleTalk]
With the recent back-and-forth between McIntyre and Priest, it’s only a matter of time before their match is made official for WrestleMania 41.
