JYP Confirms debut date of new boy group NEXZ
Rookie K-pop act NEXZ will debut on May 20, 2024, with their new single, “Ride the Vibe.” The teaser trailer of NEXZ teases a contemporary suspenseful concept where art and music blend effortlessly.
The video introduced various curious captions for each member, from “How To Move a Body” to “How To Clean.” The techno beats and overall groovy tune hint at the album’s genre, which will not stray far away from other JYP artists’ signature styles, like Stray Kids or Xdinary Heroes.
NEXZ is a predominantly Japanese group with only one Korean member, So Geon. The leader of the group is Tomoya. The eighteen-year-old rookie started taking dancing training early in his childhood and participated in multiple shows, including the All Japan Super Kids Dance Contest 2016, Dance Cup 2017, and WDC Kids Allstyle 2019.
The group’s dance leader is Haru, who came second place in the finale of Nizi Project Season 2. Haru has trained under JYP Entertainment for six months. His biggest strength is fluency in the dancing style popping.
Tomiyasu Yu is the oldest member of NEXZ whose current position in the team is ‘visual.’ Yu’s striking charisma and dancing skills have impressed fans. Before joining the Nizi project, Yu appeared in other auditions. But NEXZ became the dream-come-true opportunity for the 19-year-old who has dreamed of becoming an idol since childhood.
NEXZ’s only Korean member, So Geon, is 18 years old. The rookie came in fourth place in the finale of Nizi Project Season 2. His current position has yet to be revealed. While the group’s debut is still days away, So Geon has kept fans entertained through various life updates using the official Instagram of NEXZ.
Another NEXZ member, Kawashima Seita, is a massive fan of Stray Kids. He has trained under JYP Entertainment for seven months. Along with his K-pop career, Seita is a professional model. The 18-year-old came in seventh place in the penultimate episode and was the last person to be revealed.
Hyui, the sixth member of NEXZ, has been a part of the JYP family for over three years. The “melody maker” of the group has taken dance training before joining JYP Entertainment. The 17-year-old trainee ranked sixth in the finale of Nizi Project 2. His official position in the group is yet to be disclosed.
Nishiyama Yuki (stage name Yuki) is the group’s youngest (maknae) member. The 16-year-old trainee hails from Hyōgo, Japan. He ranked third in the finale and secured his position in NEXZ. Yuki’s main passion is dancing, which he has reportedly been doing since childhood. Along with dancing, Yuki’s vocals have stunned fans.
Before the official debut, NEXZ released its pre-debut song, “Miracle,” on December 18th, 2023. The track’s official music video has garnered over 17 million views on YouTube since its release.
