Life is Strange and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden developer Don’t Nod shared a new trailer for Lost Records: Bloom & Rage at Monday’s Xbox Showcase. The upcoming game launches for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5 in late 2024, and fans can wishlist it now.
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage released in late 2024
Monday’s trailer introduces viewers to Lost Records’ protagonist, Swann, through the lens of her camcorder. The game takes players to the fictional town of Velvet Cove, Michigan, and its story takes place in both the modern day and the Summer of 1995. The trailer takes place in 1995, with Swann recording snippets of her life in the small town.
In addition to showcasing several landmarks, it offers insight into Swann’s character. Don’t Nod Describes her as an introvert with a “love of capturing slices of reality on her camcorder.” The trailer didn’t show much of her friends, though the studio shared a bit about them in an accompanying press release. These are “Nora, rebellious, eccentric and full of energy; Autumn, the thoughtful and charismatic group leader; and Kat, pragmatic, strong-willed and enigmatic.”
Despite their teenage friendship, the girl’s relationship fell apart after what happened in Summer 1995. The Lost Records trailer teases when Swann discovers a mysterious symbol on a concrete pipe in an abandoned playground. The recording then dissolves into static.
The trailer ends with Swann saying, “This is Swann Holloway, and if you find this video, it’s because I’m dead.” She’s clearly joking in the recording. However, considering Lost Records is from the same studio as Life is Strange, it might be reasonable to worry about her safety.
Don’t Nod intends to release Lost Records: Bloom & Rage in two parts one month apart, giving fans time to discuss Part 1 while waiting for Part 2. The studio also indicated that it hopes the new game will start a new series.
