Manhwa like My Hero Academia: Eleceed, Unordinary & More

My Hero Academia series has been at the peak of modern shonen anime for several years. The popular series helped redefine the word superhero and has kept fans glued for several years. With the seventh season premiering later this year, fans won’t need to wait long to see their favourite characters return to action. Kohei Horikoshi’s famous work has inspired several other anime, manga and even manhwa, which speaks to the talent behind the work. In this list, we will examine those manhwas similar to My Hero Academia.

Villain to Kill

Villain to Kill is one of the best Superhero manhwa. It perfectly combines two themes that generally wouldn’t go hand in hand: Justice and Revenge. The story follows Cassian Lee, a world-famous hero and psyker who is betrayed and killed by his organisation. After some strange events, he is reborn as a boy who just recently became a villain and must now navigate his new circumstances. Like My Hero Academia, it shows the lines between Villains and Heroes aren’t always black and white.

The popular manhwa written by Mun-Sik and illustrated by Jutama has been making waves since its release in 2022. The story takes place in a world filled with dungeons and monsters that the adventurers fight. The Warrior High School is the most prestigious educational facility for honing adventurers.

It follows the story of Yoo Jaryong after his dad, one of the world’s most incredible adventurers, is framed and falls sick. Jaryoung changes his name and becomes a smuggler breaking into dungeons to pay his father’s hospital bills. However, he is allowed to go to Warrior High School and fulfil his childhood dream. The Manhwas High School plot and ultimate goal to become something more are similar to MHA’s.

Eleceed

Eleceed has been going strong since its release in 2018. Son Jae Ho and ZHENA’s popular action manhwa have won plaudits due to their unique art style, story, and loveable characters. The story takes place in a world secretly run by awakened people with supernatural abilities.

However, he is ambushed and forced to lie low and recover, making him take the form of a cat to survive. He then meets Jiwoo, a high school student and known cat lover who typically takes in strays. After finding out Jiwoo is awake and oblivious to the entire society and lacks formal training, Kayden decides to take him as a disciple and train him.

Unordinary

Chelsey Han’s Unordinary is the perfect manhwa for fans of the My Hero Academia series. It takes place in a world where almost every human possesses abilities. The world is shared between the strong (High-Tier), the weak (Low-tier), and the powerless(cripples); this leads to massive discrimination against the low-tier and cripples. The story follows John, a student at Wellston, a prestigious school where different students possess different abilities. He is constantly bullied for being a cripple.

Everything seems bleak until he encounters Seraphina, the ace of Wellston. The two bond over the chocolate and become best friends despite their different statuses. However, John reveals his real personality after an unfortunate encounter with Arlo. The manhwa shares many similarities with My Hero Academia as it highlights the disparity between the classes.
