Kalvan OTT Release Date & Platform Confirmed, Claims Report

After the success of Rebel, actor G.V. Prakash is presently reveling in the acclaim garnered by Kalvan. The film has received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. Although it hit screens on April 4, fans eagerly anticipate its OTT release. Recent reports indicate that a major OTT platform has acquired its streaming rights.

Directed by P.V. Shankar, Kalvan is set against the backdrop of the Sathyamangalam forest reserve. In the film, G.V. Prakash plays the role of a thief. Alongside Prakash, the cast also features Bharathiraja, Ivana, Dheena, G. Gnanasambandam, and Vinod Munna in supporting roles.

Director P. V. Shankar lauded Prakash’s acting skills. He said, “It’s not easy to concentrate on music and acting at the same time. However, he has exceeded our expectations with his naturalistic acting and great music for this film.”

Furthermore, Shankar appreciated the rest of the cast, stating, “Ivana is a true talent who has delivered a good performance in this film. Working with Bharathiraja sir is a dream come true, and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

When is GV Prakash’s Kalvan coming out for OTT?

As anticipation mounts for Kalvan’s OTT release, recent reports from OTTplay confirmed that Disney Plus Hotstar has secured its post-theatrical streaming rights. However, there has not been any announcement regarding its tentative OTT release date. Generally, as per the South Indian cinema trend, the film is expected to be available for streaming after 45-60 days of theatrical release.

Additionally, its OTT release depends upon its box office performance and makers’ preferences. So, the audience must wait until the official release date announcement.

As for the reviews, India Today has rated the film with a score of 2 out of 5, citing various factors. They wrote, “Kalvan is a predictable film that has zero emotional connect. The jokes don’t land, the emotional scenes fail to evoke any emotion and the twists and turns don’t surprise you at all. You expect a song, you get it. You guess the climax and you get exactly that. Add to that, the tacky visual effects in many important scenes, and the viewers do not get a novel treatment.”

As Kalvan continues its journey at the box office, it will be intriguing to see how much it collects in its first week. This will also anticipate the film’s performance during its OTT debut.
