The Hedge Knight Cast: Game of Thrones Prequel Finds Its Dunk & Egg

The Hedge Knight cast for the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off has grown, as actors have been cast for the story’s two main characters.

Variety has reported that the series’ primary duo of characters — Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg — have officially been cast. The outlet revealed that Peter Claffey will be playing Ser Duncan, while Dexter Sol Ansell will be playing Egg.

Claffey has starred in the television series Wreck and appeared in the shows Harry Wild and Bad Sisters. On the other hand, has Ansell appeared in series like Emmerdale and The Midwich Cuckoos as well as last year’s Hunger Games prequel film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is based on the Martin’s Dunk and Egg novella. The short tale centers on Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and Aegon V Targaryen (Egg), set a hundred years before the events of the main series. The series is expected to run for six episodes.

What is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight about?

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros . . . a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg,” reads the series’ logline. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
