Lovestruck in the City Ending Explained: Did Kim Ji-Won & Ji Chang-Wook End Up Together?

Lovestruck in the City is a 2020 K-drama, starring Kim Ji-Won and Ji Chang-Wook in the lead roles. The romance friendship series revolves around Park Jae-Won who falls in love with Yoon Seon-Ah during a vacation. One day, she vanishes, leaving him a message to end their relationship. After a few years, their paths cross, and Jae-Won learns a big truth about his ex.

Even after learning that Seon-Ah is not the real identity of Ji-Won’s character, he is still deeply in love with her. In episode 16, the two have cleared up their misunderstandings, but Eun-Oh/Seon-Ah doesn’t want to be in a relationship. She wants to explore her different sides. Jae-Won gives her the time and acts as a stranger.

Towards the end of the previous episode, Eun-Oh realizes that she can find herself while being together with Jae-Won. Hence, the two start dating. The finale episode features Eun-Oh and Jae-Won spending quality time together like a regular couple.

Lovestruck in the City episode 17 recap & spoilers: Kim Ji-Won reveals her first love

Lovestruck in the City episode 17 begins with the characters answering about their “firsts.” Rin-Yi (So Ju-Yeon) mentions that it reminds her of “first love” and informs that she has broken up with Choi Kyung-Joon (Kim Min-Seok). The latter, on the other hand, doesn’t want to answer the question and asks the crew to leave him alone. He is annoyed at the fact that Rin-Yi has ended their five-year-long relationship.

Meanwhile, Jae-Won (Ji Chang-Wook) tells the viewers that the question reminds him of his “first kiss.” Eun-Oh (Kim Ji-Won) teases him, asking the name of his first kiss. When he goes to the kitchen, Eun-Oh mentions her first love. She says, “I first loved Kang Geon…in middle school. He was in his uniform for school. All of a sudden he looked a little bit handsome.”

For context, Kang Geon (Ryu Kyung-Soo), Eun-Oh, and Rin-Yi are best friends since middle school. His ex-girlfriend Sun-Young (Han Ji-Eun) left him because she misunderstood his relationship with his two best friends.

Episode 17 further shows Eun-Oh saving a young actress Hae-Na (Hong Soo-Joo) from an uncomfortable situation with a co-actor. Later, she learns that Hae-Na has disappeared from the set. She finds the actress in her car.

Hae-Na requests Eun-Oh to drop her somewhere. From here, a new side story begins in the K-drama.

Lovestruck in the City ending: Episode 17 introduces a new couple

Lovestruck in the City episode 17 is more like a bonus episode than a finale. The lead actors, Kim Ji-Won and Ji Chang-Wook have already got their happy ending in episode 16. Additionally, the second lead characters have parted ways but for their own betterment.

The final episode focuses more on a new couple — Hae-Na (Hong Soo-Joo) and Oh Dong-Sik (Choi Min-Ho). They are childhood friends and are protective of each other. While she is a popular actress, he is in the police force. After leaving the set with Eun-Oh, the latter drops Hae-Na in front of Dong-Sik’s house. She waits for him to come home in cold weather.

When Dong-Sik arrives, they enter his apartment where she has dinner with him. Later, they play games and he cuts his birthday cake with her. She throws hints at him but he is clueless. While bidding her goodbye, she asks for a minute of him. Hae-Na leans towards him and kisses him on his lips. Shocked, Dong-Sik resists her but then gives in when she kisses him again.

With her first kiss, Hae-Na leaves and gets back to the film set. Lovestruck in the City K-drama ends with all the characters coming together for a photoshoot.
