Will There Be a Frieren Season 2 Release Date & Is It Coming Out?

Developed by Studio Madhouse, Frieren or Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a fantasy anime series. An adaptation of the namesake manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, the show revolves around Frieren, an elven mage who is over a thousand years old. After her companions from a previous journey begin dying due to old age, Frieren begins to understand the truth about human mortality. She subsequently sets out on a new adventure to know more. Season 1 aired in Japan between September 29, 2023, and March 22, 2024. Interested in knowing whether there will be a Season 2 of Frieren? This is what we have found out.

Here’s all the Frieren Season 2 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Frieren Season 2 release date?

Frieren Season 2 does not have an official release date, but it will likely be announced in the future.

As of late March 2024, Madhouse hasn’t greenlit Frieren for the sophomore season. This is expected as Season 1 just finished airing, and the animation studio will likely observe how it has performed with the audience in Japan and beyond before making a decision. Frieren is one of the most well-received anime shows to come out in 2023 and has received much praise for its story, animation, and characters.

Yamada and Abe’s manga currently has 12 volumes, with the 13th volume slated to be released in April 2024. Season 1 of the anime covers up to chapter 60 (volume 7). So, there is plenty of material left for Season 2. If everything goes well, Frieren will likely be renewed for the sophomore season at some point in the future.

Some members of the Frieren voice cast are Atsumi Tanezaki as Frieren, Kana Ichinose as Fern, Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark, and Yuichi Nakamura as Sein, among others.

Where is Frieren Season 2 coming out?

Frieren Season 2 could come out on NNS (Nippon TV) in Japan and Crunchyroll in the US.

This is because season 1 of Frieren came out on those networks. ComingSoon will provide an update if and when Madhouse officially announces the second season.

The official synopsis for Frieren reads:

“After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.”
