Get Lite: Storm Reid Tapped to Star in Teyana Taylor’s Directorial Debut Movie

Storm Reid has been tapped to star in Get Lite, a new movie that marks the feature film directorial debut of Teyana Taylor.

Per Deadline, Reid will star in Get Lite, which is being directed by Taylor and developed by Paramount Pictures. Reid will also produce the movie alongside Kenya Barris, Bill Karesh,  Robyn Simpson, and Anni Weisband.

What is Get Lite about?

According to Deadline, “The film follows a studious New York City teenager who has his world upended when he falls for a charismatic beatmaker (played by Reid) who recruits him to join her Litefeet dance crew, forcing him to choose between a safe academic path and his rekindled love of dance.”

Eric Gross is writing the script for Get Lite. Taylor is executive producing the movie, while Coco Gilbert serves as a co-producer.

Reid is best known for playing Gia Bennett, the sister of Zendaya’s Rue Bennett, in HBO’s Euphoria. She also played Riley Abel in an episode of HBO’s The Last of Us.

Reid has additionally starred in movies such as 2013’s 12 Years a Slave, 2019’s A Wrinkle in Time, 2020’s The Invisible Man, 2021’s The Suicide Squad, and 2023’s Missing. She was most recently seen in The Nun II, which was released in United States theaters in September 2023.

Taylor, meanwhile, is a singer, model, and dancer who starred in her first movie, Stomp the Yard: Homecoming, in 2010. She’s since appeared in movies such as 2018’s The After Party, 2021’s Coming 2 America, the 2023 remake of White Men Can’t Jump, and 2023’s The Book of Clarence. She’ll next be seen acting alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new, still untitled movie, which releases in 2025.

Paramount Pictures has not yet announced a release date for Get Lite.
