Alcaraz, the Docuseries: When Did Carlos Alcaraz Start Playing Tennis?

Morena Films is currently filming a docuseries titled Alcaraz, the Docuseries, which will release on Netflix next year. According to Tudum by Netflix, this project will take a look at tennis star Carlos Alcaraz’s 2024 season. It will showcase his on-court and off-court experience and help fans understand what it feels like to walk in the 20-year-old athlete’s shoes.

According to the ATP Tour’s official website, Carlos Alcaraz began playing tennis when he was only four. However, he turned pro at the age of 16. He is considered one of the best racquet wielders of this generation. Alcaraz was once ranked world No. 1 in men’s singles by the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals).

At just 20, Alcaraz has several honors to his name. He has reportedly won thirteen ATP Tour-level singles titles, including two major titles—the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. Furthermore, he has won the Masters 1000 title five times. One of his most impressive achievements is that he topped the ATP Open Era rankings at 19 years, making him the youngest man and the first teenager to do so.

Carlos Alcaraz was born on May 5, 2003 to Carlos Alcaraz González and Virginia Garfia Escandón. The couple has four children in total. Alcaraz’s father was also a professional tennis player. However, he stopped playing after he could not enter the pro circuit.

At the age of four, Carlos began playing in Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia. Here, his father worked as the tennis academy director, while his grandfather co-founded the club. In 2018, Alcaraz started training at Juan Carlos Ferrero’s Equelite JC Ferrero Sport Academy.

What is Carlos Alcaraz’s current ATP rank?

Carlos Alcaraz’s current ATP singles rank is No. 2. In first position is the legendary Novak Djokovic, while in third is Italy’s Jannik Sinner.

Although he struggled with his game for the past few months, he emerged victorious at the 2024 Indian Wells Open in the men’s singles category. In the tournament’s final match, he defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev with an impressive score of 7–6(5) 6–1. According to Sportstar, he told reporters that his trophy drought did not bother him much after his triumph. However, he was concerned about his injuries and wasn’t enjoying being on the tennis court.

He said, “It’s difficult to put it into words, because I had really difficult months. Let’s say the last two months it was difficult for me to find myself. I didn’t enjoy stepping on the court. I wasn’t myself on the court the last two months, three months, so it was difficult for me.”

He further stated, “It means a lot to me, lifting this trophy because I overcome a lot of problems in my head, a lot of problems physically. It was so special for that. That’s why I’m really, really happy to lift this trophy, because I found myself at this tournament, and I felt really, really good.”

According to the official website of the ATP Tour, Carlos’s favorite football team is Real Madrid. He is also a fan of American actor Will Smith.
