Nitesh Tiwari & Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Delayed, Claim Reports

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s most anticipated project, Ramayana, has been in the news for a long time. The film’s cast has been widely discussed for the past several months. However, no official announcement regarding the project has been made yet. While it was earlier reported that the movie would go on floors in March, it has been allegedly delayed. Here is the reason behind the film’s postponement.

The initial reports about Ramayana revealed that Ranbir Kapoor had been cast to play Lord Ram. As per Pinkvilla, Sai Pallavi will portray Maa Sita, while KGF fame Yash will play Ravan.

Ramayana not to go on floors in March?

The epic saga of Ramayana has been re-told several times in the Indian cinema. Whether in the form of a movie or a TV series, many filmmakers have touched on several angles of the epic tale. Keeping this in mind, it seems that Nitesh Tiwari does not want to leave any stone unturned in bringing the story again to the big screens.

According to Mid-Day, the film’s shoot has been pushed back by a month because its costume and art departments need extra time to bring perfection to their work. A source close to the development said, “The costumes were authentic but felt lacking in terms of scale and grandeur. Additional costume designers who have worked on mythological offerings were hired last week. The outfits should be locked by March 25.”

Moreover, the director is being extremely particular about Ramayana’s script. Prabhas’ Adipurush also narrated the story of Lord Ram but was highly criticized for its dialogues and VFX work. Talking about the film’s script, the source added, “It has to be loyal to the spirit of the epic.” “The set too will have some minor changes, and the film will roll sometime between April 12 and 15.”

The movie is expected to be announced on the occasion of Ram Navami, i.e. April 17, 2024.
