Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Likely Releasing in 2025 or Later

According to Embracer Group, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake likely won’t release within the next year. Embracer also announced the sale of Saber Interactive, with the KOTOR remake now a joint venture.

Star Wars: KOTOR remake probably not releasing in the next 12 months

As Video Games Chronicle reported, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors discussed the deal in a conference call. This included answering questions about the two joint ventures between Embraer and Saber’s new parent company, Beacon Interactive. One of these ventures is “A previously announced AAA based on a major license.”

The Embracer CEO declined to say whether the game was the KOTOR remake. However, no other Saber Interactive project fits the description.

While Wingefors was unwilling to name the game, he did give some indication as to when it would be released. When asked if the game will launch in the next 12 months, he answered, “No, I think that kind of game needs some deep love and respect, so without giving full color, I think it’s some time left until that is released.”

If he is talking about the Knights of the Old Republic remake, it likely isn’t coming until mid-2025 at the earliest.

Wingefors also declined to comment on which company was leading the joint venture. The KOTOR remake is, however, one of 14 Saber Interactive games fully or partly retained by Embracer Group. The others include Teardown, Killing Floor 3, the next game from 4A Games, upcoming games from Zen Studios, Aspyr, and Tripwire, and four additional AAA and AA games. However, it’s worth noting that Beacon Interactive reportedly plans to buy 4A and Zen in the future.
