Why is Deadpool a Disney Princess?

Fans have been asking why Deadpool is a Disney Princess ever since a video from Butch Hartman hit the web nearly seven years ago. Here is all you need to know about the humorous situation.

Why Deadpool is considered to be a Disney Princess?

Deadpool is considered to be a Disney Princess thanks to a seven-year-old video from Butch Hartman.

The Deadpool meme about him being a Disney Princess or star kickstarted roughly seven years ago in 2017 when Butch Hartman, the animator and creator of Nickelodeon’s Danny Phantom and The Fairly OddParents, put up a YouTube video titled “Deadpool Invades Disney.” In it, he edited a drawing of the Marvel antihero onto a series of clips from various Disney films such as Frozen, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast by replacing key characters such as Elsa and Gaston with Deadpool.

This video was made and uploaded by Butch Hartman two years before Deadpool became a Disney (and Marvel) property after The Walt Disney Company purchased 20th Century Fox (who held the character’s film rights) and most of its assets on March 20, 2019.

The Deadpool Invades Disney video by Butch Hartman is quite interesting as it evokes the famous Marvel character’s penchant for breaking the fourth wall and addressing audiences and making passing references to pop culture topics and events.

Interestingly, Butch Hartman is not the only one who enjoyed reveling in the Deadpool Disney Princess meme as various other people and sites have taken to play with the idea. For instance, the website IsItCanon has put up a comic depicting Deadpool playing various Disney princesses such as Snow White, Elsa, Ariel, and Belle.

The YouTube channel Deadpool Musical also toyed with the idea of Deadpool as a Disney character via their 2018 Deadpool The Musical 2 video, putting the character in Disney’s usual energetic and vibrant musical environment.
