Owen Wilson To Lead Apple TV+ Golf Comedy Series

Owen Wilson will headline a still-untitled golf comedy series for Apple TV+, which hails from writer Jason Keller (Ford v Ferrari).

The planned project has been given a 10-episode order at Apple. According to the show’s official description (via Variety), Wilson will star in the series as Pryce Cahill, a character described as “an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom.”

An actor known for starring in acclaimed roles, the Apple TV+ series is another notch on the bedpost for Wilson. His impressive voice and acting credits include Loki, Armageddon, Zoolander, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, How Do You Know, Midnight in Paris, The Big Year, The Internship, The Grand Budapest Hotel, She’s Funny That Way, No Escape, The French Dispatch, and Haunted Mansion — among many others.

The Oscar-nominated actor has also lent his voice to a number of animated features, including the Cars animated film franchise, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Free Birds, and The Hero of Color City. In 2022, he reprised his role of Lightning McQueen in the animated series Cars on the Road.

Who else is involved in the planned Apple TV+ series?

Both Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (the duo behind Little Miss Sunshine and Battle of the Sexes) will serve as the show’s directors. In addition to starring in the golf comedy, Wilson will also executive produce the series alongside Keller, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Guymon Casady, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, and Chris Moynihan.
