Season 1 premiered on HBO on June 6, 2022. If you are wondering about Irma Vep (2022) Season 2 Release Date, this is what we have discovered.

Here’s all we know about Irma Vep Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.

Is there an Irma Vep Season 2 release date?

There is no Irma Vep Season 2 release date as series creator Olivier Assayas developed it as a miniseries.

Assayas created, wrote, and directed the series based on his 1996 namesake film. In a May 2022 interview with Vulture, the French filmmaker said that television had now become the primary format of filmmaking.

“I started playing with the notion of doing something based on my movies, and Irma Vep came up instantly,” Assayas elaborated. “Because Irma Vep is not a movie. Irma Vep is a concept. You can adapt it to any kind of film culture. When I did it in the ’90s, cinema was in turmoil for many different reasons. I think now it’s in turmoil for completely new and different reasons. It means I had a completely different engine and could tell a completely different story based on something I already visited in another time.”

At one point in the series, Vidal refers to his remake as a film “divided into eight pieces.” As Irma Vep is a show that merges reel and real in more ways than one, this rings true for it as well. Assayas completes the story by the end of episode 8 he has initially set to tell. As a result, Irma Vep Season 2 is unlikely to happen.

The cast includes Alicia Vikander as Mira Harberg, Vincent Macaigne as René Vidal, Adria Arjona as Laurie, Byron Bowers as Herman Ray, and more.

Why Irma Vep Season 2 isn’t happening

Irma Vep Season 2 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the series was developed as a miniseries and concluded after one season. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.

The official synopsis for Irma Vep reads:

“Mira is an American movie star disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup, who comes to France to star as “Irma Vep” in a remake of the French silent film classic, “Les Vampires.” Set against the backdrop of a lurid crime thriller, Mira struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge.”
