Ash: Aaron Paul & Eiza González Sci-fi Film Lands at Prime Video

Ash, a sci-fi thriller starring Aaron Paul and Eiza González, has landed at Prime Video. Deadline reported on Thursday that Amazon reportedly paid XYZ Films around $10 million to acquire the international rights for Ash. The acquisition happened at the European Film Market (EFM). The film is in post-production.

Paul is best known for his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, for which he won three Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Paul recently appeared in Westworld Seasons 3 and 4 and starred in Dual alongside Karen Gillan.

González, who broke out in 2017’s Baby Driver, will star in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare this spring. González will also be featured in 3 Body Problem, Netflix’s sci-fi series from Alexander Woo and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

What to Expect in Ash?

“Gonzalez will play a woman who wakes up on a distant planet and finds the crew of her space station viciously killed,” Deadline’s synopsis reads. “She must decide whether she can trust the man (Paul) sent to rescue her.”

Iko Uwais, Beulah Koale, and Kate Elliott also star in Ash.

Rapper Flying Lotus (Steven D. Bingley-Ellison) directed Ash from a script by Jonni Remmler. Flying Lotus, who wrote and directed a segment for V/H/S/99, will also compose an original score for Ash. Neil Blomkamp, the sci-fi visionary behind District 9, is listed as an executive producer alongside Echo Lake. XYZ Films and GFC Films are producing.
