Iwájú Trailer Previews Disney+’s Futuristic Animated Miniseries

Walt Disney Animation Studios has dropped the official Iwájú trailer for its upcoming coming-of-age animated series, which hails from Kugali Media.

The video features Tola, a young girl who gets a robotic pet lizard named Otin from her father. It’s up to Otin to save Tola from getting kidnapped by her father’s enemy. The miniseries will start streaming on February 28 on Disney+.

Who’s part of Iwájú?

Iwájú hails from director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, who co-wrote the screenplay with Halima Hudson. The 6-part series features the voices of Simisola Gbadamosi, Dayo Okeniyi, Femi Branch, Siji Soetan, and Weruche Opia. It is produced by Christina Chen, with Hamid Ibrahim and Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku serving as the production designer and cultural consultant, respectively.

“Set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria, the exciting coming-of-age story follows Tola, a young girl from the wealthy island, and her best friend, Kole, a self-taught tech expert, as they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds,” reads the logline.
