Hakubo no Chronicle Live Action Releases Main Trailer, Cast & More

WOWOW, the official website of the upcoming live-action of Masami Yuuki’s Hakubo no Chronicle, released the trailer and a key visual on February 8, 2024. The trailer announced that live-action is set to premiere date on March 1, 2024. In addition to that, the video revealed the theme song “FATE” by idol group WEST. The series will reportedly run for 12 episodes.

Hakubo no Chronicle: Everything you need to know

With less than a month left until its premiere, Hakubo no Chronicle revealed the cast members of the main characters. WEST member Tomohiro Kamiyama will star as Kai Yukimura in the series. Meanwhile, Airi Matsui will be seen as Akari Fusegi, the newly elected health official. 

Other cast members include:

  • Terunosuke Takezai as Tadahito Takenouchi
  • Tsutomu Takahashi as Karasawa
  • Ryosuke Obayashi by Juichiro Sanetou
  • Ayumu Ito as Kaoruko Azechi Kaoruko
  • Ken Mitsuishi as Mikiya Kubozono

As for the main staff, Kazuhiro Nakagawa, known for the live-action of Godzilla vs Hedorah, teamed up with Gō Sasaki to direct the series. With Harumi Fuuki composing the music, Shōta Koyama, Taiki Yamazaki, and Shiori Tanaka will be in charge of scriptwriting.

Describing the plot of Hokubo no Chronicle, Crunchyroll wrote, “The story takes place in a world where a race of immortals called ‘Okinaga’ exists. Akari Fusegi, a new civil servant at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, is assigned to the department that manages Okinaga. On her first day at the job, Akari encounters a case of Okinaga slaughter and is tasked with tracking the mysterious death. She teams up with Kai Yukimura, who looks like a boy but is 88 years old and a homicidal maniac.”
