New Evil Dead Movie Finds Its Director

A spin-off Evil Dead movie is in the works, with a director and co-writer having signed on for the upcoming horror film.

Deadline has reported that Sébastien Vaniček will serve as the director and co-writer for the upcoming Evil Dead spin-off movie, which comes from Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures. Little is known about the plot at this time, though given its an Evil Dead film, it’s likely some form of demonic mischief and possession will be involved.

Vaniček’s other directorial credits include the 2023 horror movie Infested as well as a few different short films, all of which he also wrote. The synopsis for Infested is as follows:

“Kaleb is a young adult who lives on petty jobs. Fascinated by exotic animals, he finds a poisonous spider in a bazaar and brings it back to his flat. It only takes a moment for it to escape and reproduce, turning the place into a dreadful web trap. At the same time, the police locks down the building where the residents are ambushed. Only option for Kaleb and his mates: find the way out, to survive.”
