A24 Pearl The Lighthouse A Ghost Story The Lobster

A24 Is Bringing Pearl, The Lighthouse, and More Back to Theaters This February

A24 is bringing four fan-favorite movies back to AMC Theatres in February 2024.

AMC Theatres has announced a new “A Lover’s Series” that will see four A24 movies — Pearl, A Ghost Story, The Lobster, and The Lighthouse — return to cinemas in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

What are Pearl, A Ghost Story, The Lobster, and The Lighthouse about?

Coming first on February 7 is 2023’s Pearl, Ti West’s prequel to 2023’s X starring Mia Goth and David Corenswet.

“Filmmaker Ti West returns with another chapter from the twisted world of X, in this astonishing follow-up to the year’s most acclaimed horror film,” the synopsis for Pearl reads. “Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother. Lusting for a glamorous life like she’s seen in the movies, Pearl finds her ambitions, temptations, and repressions all colliding in this stunning, technicolor-inspired origin story of X’s iconic villain.”

David Lowery’s A Ghost Story follows on February 14. Starring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara, the synopsis for the film reads, “With A Ghost Story, acclaimed director David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Pete’s Dragon) returns with a singular exploration of legacy, loss, and the essential human longing for meaning and connection. Recently deceased, a white-sheeted ghost (Academy Award-winner Casey Affleck) returns to his suburban home to console his bereft wife (Academy Award-nominee Rooney Mara), only to find that in his spectral state he has become unstuck in time, forced to watch passively as the life he knew and the woman he loves slowly slip away. Increasingly unmoored, the ghost embarks on a cosmic journey through memory and history, confronting life’s ineffable questions and the enormity of existence. An unforgettable meditation on love and grief, A Ghost Story emerges ecstatic and surreal—a wholly-unique experience that lingers long after the credits roll.”

Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster with Colin Farrel and Rachel Weisz then hits AMC Theatres on February 21.

“Colin Farrell stars as David, a man who has just been dumped by his wife,” the synopsis reads. “To make matters worse, David lives in a society where single people have 45 days to find true love, or else they are turned into the animal of their choice and released into the woods. David is kept at the mysterious HOTEL while he searches for a new partner, and after several romantic misadventures decides to make a daring escape to abandon this world. He ultimately joins up with a rebel faction known as The Loners, a group founded on a complete rejection of romance. But once there David meets an enigmatic stranger (Rachel Weisz) who stirs up unexpected and strong feelings within him…”

Lastly, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe arrives on February 28.

“From Robert Eggers, the visionary filmmaker behind modern horror masterpiece The Witch, comes this hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s,” the synopsis reads.
