Hulu Unveils Chaotic Trailer for Solar Opposites Valentine’s Day Special

For romantic viewers out there, the Solar Opposites are officially declaring war on Valentine’s Day.

Hulu has released the trailer for its upcoming Valentine’s Day special, marking the third holiday special from the streamer’s hit animated comedy. Set to arrive on February 5, the trailer highlights what it’d be like when love is removed from the world, which Jesse (Mary Mack) totally opposes.

Called An Earth Shatteringly Romantic Solar Valentine’s Day Opposites Special, the trailer starts with Korvo (Dan Stevens) announcing his plan to put an end to the romantic holiday while being surrounded by a group of couples. When his plan of eliminating love from everyone succeeded, the world eventually turned into chaos.

Realizing that his plan may have turned out to be an absolute disaster, Korvo said in the trailer, “It is very bad and could have planet-destroying consequences.”

What’s next for the Solar Opposites universe?

Solar Opposites, which debuted in 2021, previously returned on Adult Swim for its fourth season back in August 2023. It has also been confirmed that the animated sitcom will return for Season 5 sometime this year.

The show was originally executive produced by Justin Roiland, who also served as Korvo’s voice during the first three seasons. However, following the domestic assault allegations against him, Hulu decided to replace Roiland with Stevens. Mike McMahan and Josh Bycel are the show’s current executive producers. The series is produced by 20th Television Animation.

The official synopsis for Solar Opposites reads as follows: “Solar Opposites centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo and Yumyulack only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry and Jesse love TV, junk food, and fun stuff.”

The Solar Opposites special premieres on February 5, over a week before the commemoration of Valentine’s Day.
