Young Royals Season 3 Release Dates Set in New Poster

Netflix has finally unveiled the release date for the third and final season of Young Royals, taking fans an inch closer to the continuation of Wilhelm and Simon’s love story. The first five episodes of Season 3 will premiere on the streamer on March 11, with the final episode arriving on March 18

The final season of the Swedish teen drama was announced back in December 2022, though the exact release date was not revealed yet at the time. According to the show’s co-creator and head writer, Lisa Ambjörn, she has always “imagined” that the show will be told in “three parts. The ending has been clear to me from the start and I’m so thankful and honored to get to finish this saga as intended.”

Young Royals, which debuted back in 2021, has become one of Netflix’s most successful non-English television shows to date. The first season explored the early days of Wilhem and Simon’s (or what fans may prefer to call Wilmon) budding love story, with Season 2 — which dropped in November 2022 — highlighting the return of the characters to Hillerska Boarding School and all the drama and chaos that transpired after.

The story of Young Royals primarily revolves around Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding) and his relationship with Simon Eriksson (Omar Rudberg). Being the second in line for the royal throne while adjusting to his new life at the prestigious boarding school, his romantic story — which some may deem controversial — has proven to be more challenging, with a few setbacks getting in his way of following what his heart wants.

What can we expect in Season 3?

“Wilhelm’s speech has consequences not only in the court but also throughout the school, as Hillerska confronts the worst crisis in the school’s history,” the synopsis reads. “The prince and Simon are determined to be together, but what are they willing to sacrifice when realizing that their freedom and love might be at odds with the Royal ideals, traditions and responsibilities?”

Created by Ambjörn, Lars Beckung, and Camilla Holter, other cast members who will be returning for Season 3 include Malte Gårdinger as August, Frida Argento as Sara, Nikita Uggla as Felice, Pernilla August as Queen Kristina, Magnus Roosmann as Duke Ludvig, and Carmen Gloria Pérez as Linda.
