New Jurassic World Movie Being Made With Original Jurassic Park Writer

A new Jurassic World movie is in the works, with a writer who has experience with the franchise already lined-up.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that a new Jurassic World movie is being made, with David Koepp set to write the latest entry. Koepp previously co-wrote the original Jurassic Park with Michael Crichton and wrote the first sequel in the franchise, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Most recently, Koepp wrote last year’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and the upcoming Steven Soderbergh film Presence.

The outlet notes that Universal Pictures is “deep in development” on the new Jurassic World movie, though there’s currently no director attached. It will apparently launch a “new Jurassic era” featuring a new story that will likely not include returning characters from previous Jurassic World or Jurassic Park movies.

Frank Marshall will be producing alongside Patrick Crowley, while Steven Spielberg will executive produce the picture through his Amblin Entertainment banner.

What was the most recent Jurassic World movie?

The most recent Jurassic World movie was Jurassic World Dominion, which debuted in theaters in 2022. The film featured the return of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, and BD Wong. The were joined by original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Campbell Scott.

It was directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael, based on a story by the first two Jurassic World films’ scribes Derek Conolly and Trevorrow. Executive producers were Trevorrow, Steven Spielberg, and Alexandra Derbyshire.
