Star Wars: Jodie Foster Reveals Why She Turned Down Princess Leia Role

Iconic actress Jodie Foster has revealed why she turned down the role of Princess Leia in the original trilogy of Star Wars movies.

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Foster confirmed that she was offered the role of the beloved Princess of Alderaan but opted not to take it due to a prior commitment. That commitment was, ironically enough, with the company that would go on to own Star Wars — Disney.

“I was, yeah,” Foster stated. “They were going for a younger Princess Leia but I had a conflict. I was doing a Disney movie and I just didn’t want to pull out of the Disney movie because I was already under contract. So I didn’t do it. And, you know, they did an amazing job. I don’t know how good I would have been. I might have had different hair. I might have gone with a pineapple.”
