Current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins is holding nothing back while talking about CM Punk’s return to the promotion. Punk is making a sensational return to WWE at the Survivor Series: WarGames in Chicago. However, Seth Rollins might be less than thrilled to see him back.
In fan-captured footage, Rollins was visibly displeased to see him return, and his reaction quickly went viral. Previously, fans also witnessed a heated confrontation between Rollins and Punk on the December 11 edition of RAW, where Rollins warned Punk against referring to WWE as his home and branded him as a fraud.
Speaking on the December 25 edition of WWE Raw, titled ‘Absolute Best of 2023,’ Rollins opened up about the emotional rollercoaster he experienced when Punk’s iconic entrance music played at the Survivor Series: WarGames. He stated, “It was such a mixture of emotions. Rage and disappointment, but also, you kind of knew it was coming, and then when you heard it, it was almost a bit of disbelief, like you’d seen a ghost, but a ghost that you really want to punch in the mouth.”
Furthermore, when questioned about what it would take for Punk to earn his respect, Rollins didn’t hold back and said, “Ooof, I don’t know, man. We have a long road to get to that point. It’s been ten years of him doing the opposite of him earning my respect. I had a lot of respect for this guy. I put him on a pedestal in a lot of ways, and for me, he was the epitome of don’t ever meet your heroes because they’ll always disappoint you.
He concluded by saying, “That’s what it’s been for me for the last ten years, just a series of disappointments, over and over and over. I’ve known the guy for two decades. It’s been a wild twenty years. For him to get to a point where he’s earned my respect again, I don’t want to say it’s Mount Everest because I don’t think that would be doing it justice, to be honest. It’s going to be a long road, if we ever get there.”
As tensions rise, the WWE Universe eagerly awaits the much-awaited clash between Seth Rollins and CM Punk.
WWE Superstar Seth Rollins once stated CM Punk was a cancer
It is a known fact that Seth Rollins and CM Punk don’t see eye to eye. Furthermore, Rollins also rejected the idea of The Second City Saint returning to WWE.
During an interview earlier this year, The Visionary shared his thoughts on a potential CM Punk comeback and referred to Punk as a ‘cancer.’ He said “Philly Phil, stay away. Stay away, you cancer, get away from me forever. I don’t like Phil. I don’t like Phil, he’s a jerk. Did we just figure that out? Everybody in the room is like, ‘did he say that?’ Yeah, he’s a jerk. Come on. We figured it out over there, we knew it over here. I don’t want him back. Go do something else. Bye bye. See you later.”
As Punk recently expressed his desire to headline WrestleMania 40, it adds intrigue to whether fans will witness a showdown between Seth Rollins and CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the grandest stage of them all.
