Yellowjackets Season 3 Update Given by Showrunners

Yellowjackets showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco have provided a promising update for Season 3.

“We’re deep in the writing,” Lyle said during a Q&A for the SAG-AFTRA nomination committee members via Variety. “We’re having so much fun and are very excited about it.”

After receiving a Season 3 renewal in December 2022, the Yellowjackets’ creative team began working on the third season. However, production had to pause when the WGA strike began in May. When the strike ended in September, Lyle noted that “everybody came back so incredibly enthusiastic, raring to go and creatively invigorated.”

Who is Involved in Yellowjackets Season 3?

“This equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama tells the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness,” the official synopsis reads. “The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later.”

Yellowjackets is told through two timelines: one follows a group of teenage girls who survive a plane crash in the wilderness, and the other picks up 25 years later with the girls as adults.

Yellowjackets’ large ensemble cast features Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse as the adult and teenage Shauna Shipman, Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown as the adult and teenage Taissa Turner, Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty as the adult and teenage Misty Quigley, Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher as the adult and teenage Natalie “Nat” Scatorccio, Simone Kessell and Courtney Eaton as the adult and teenage Charlotte “Lottie” Matthews, Lauren Ambrose and Liv Hewson as the adult and teenage Vanessa “Van” Palmer, Steven Krueger as Ben Scott, Warren Kole as Jeff Sadecki, Kevin Alves as Travis Martinez, and Elijah Wood as Walter Tattersall.

Showtime has yet to announce a release date for Yellowjackets Season 3. However, the show could premiere in the back half of 2024 if production begins within the next few months.
